Clio-online

The Jahresberichte für deutsche Geschichte have been a partner in the cooperation network for the specialist portal Clio-online since 2002, which was initially supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Since 2007, the Jahresberichte have been a member of its supporting association.

Clio-online provides a central point of access to the Internet for the historical disciplines in the German-speaking world. Content is made accessible and presented in a structured form to combine subject information and the possibility of interaction. It relies on existing services already offered by universities, libraries and research institutions and develops new services through close cooperation among the participating institutions. Clio-online’s modular, cooperative structure is designed to support and integrate central functions of communication and discussion within the discipline as well as information provision by employing the opportunities afforded by Internet technology. Academic information, production and reception are combined in a novel way. A meta-search engine serves as a single-point tool to access classified Internet resources. Moderated mailing lists provide a forum intended to foster academic potential and the exchange of expertise; they stimulate discussion within the discipline.
