Der Begriff umschließt neben Formen d. ahistorischen oder sogar antihistorischen kollektiven Gedächtnisses alle anderen Repräsentationsmodi von Geschichte. In diesem weiten Sinne ist er synonym mit dem Konzept d. "Geschichtskultur". Er hebt aber stärker auf das Moment d. funktionalen Gebrauchs d. Vergangenheit für gegenwärtige Zwecke, für die Formierung einer historisch begründeten Identität ab. Geschichtskultur hebt stärker auf die kognitive Dimension d. Geschichtswissens ab. Nach:Cornelißen: Was heißt Erinnerungskultur? In: GWU, 54 (2003) 10, S. 548ff. In diesem Sinne ist das SW "Erinnerungskultur" bei uns zu verwenden. S.a.
